“Gregorian Spring” & Telekom Slovenia

 karibean

OUT NOW! Karibean – Andersen

A quel punto io avevo capito tutto.
Guardano avanti i Karibean. Andersen, via, filare, mettere il turbo e superare sé stessi.

“One evening I was in an old bar around Bologna, it was quite late and the manager, a bearded Viking, did not know how to get rid of the annoying and now completely drunk customers. Everybody kept ordering drinks and it was really noisy. After another request for a drink, the exasperated bartender exclaimed: “Oh, bona lé: andersen, via, filare” (a dialect expression which closest translation would be “That’s it: go away, move on”). The room became quiet while he walked the customers one by one to the door with a polite but firm smile.
At that point I had it all figured out. Within that simple but irresistible andersen = “go away, move on” I felt the best way to drive away, to exorcise certain post-mourning feelings present in our first record. ”
This is what Enrico Carletti, voice of Karibean, tells us. The band from Osimo (Italian east-coast) debuted in 2011 with the stunning EP Love, Tears And Spiritual Blessing. A sound that combines the harmonies of the Beach Boys, the carefree pop of the Housemartins and the radiance of Vampire Weekend.
Now Karibean comes back with a second collection, 6 songs that bloom of summer and guitars. The band decided to name the new EP Andersen, a name that also evokes the North, exotic algidity of Scandinavia, clear lights, …and sports.
“There is also an NBA player – says Enrico Carletti – who is my idol and he is also called Andersen, Chris Andersen. He is a real character. He plays on the Denver Nuggets. That same night when we got out of that bar with the word “andersen” in our heads, I turned the TV on Sportitalia and the Nuggets were playing. It is a sign, I thought. We had found the right title.”
Andersen, go away, moving on with the next album. Some of the new songs sound more “muscle”, the guitars are more distorted in some parts, the rhythm dry and compact. Karibean looks forward. Andersen, moving on, keep going fast.
